Parapsychology

Psionics comes under the umbrella of parapsychology, which is the study and practice of the phenomena of the mind that can’t be explained by scientific means. Many attempts have been made over the centuries to analyse mental power through scientific research and experiment, all with limited success. One of the most high profile examples is the Ganzfeld analyses of the latter half of the 20th century, which aimed to understand how extra sensory perception works. However, the results and methodology used were a matter of great dispute and did little to improve the credibility of the field.

Despite this, psionics still has a great many followers and there are several well documented cases of paranormal phenomena that can’t be explained rationally. For the moment, it’s a matter of faith, but one day science will reveal the mysteries of the universe that are currently only understood by the psychic mind.
