More psychic abilities

Most psychics receive their wisdom through the five ‘extra’ senses (clairaudience – hearing; clairvoyance – seeing; clairsentience – feeling; clairgustance – tasting; clairalience – smelling). Some are able to perceive people’s auras (the colourful field of energy that radiates from our bodies). Others can see things before they happen or after they have happened (precognition and postcognition). There are a great deal many more psychic abilities, though. It’s a very personal thing and all psychics have their own way of tuning into their inner wisdom. Here are some more methods:

Astral projection
This is the power to leave the physical body and travel to another realm of existence, the astral plane. Some people who have been in a near-death state have had astral travel experiences. It’s a little like having a very vivid dream, but one in which the astral traveller is in full control, and it takes a great deal of inner concentration to achieve.

Psychometry
Objects aren’t lifeless and inanimate. Like us, they emit an energy field full of information about their past and they can reveal a lot about their owners, particularly when they’re items that people treasured. Some psychics find it helpful to have a physical object to concentrate on to help them find out more about a person – a watch, for example, or a favourite book.

Telepathy
Most of us have had some sort of telepathic experience in our lives, whether we know it or not. It’s when two people communicate mind-to-mind rather than verbally or physically. The type of communication isn’t necessarily like a conversation – sometimes psychics just receive images in their minds, or certain feelings are evoked. For those not experienced in telepathic communication, it takes a bit of practice to get into the mindset – meditation can be useful to help open and concentrate the mind, and it’s often easier to communicate with close family and friends. However, experienced psychics have the ability to communicate telepathically with people they’ve never met before, and without even being in the same room as them.

Psychokinesis
Kinesis derives from the Greek word for movement. Psychokinesis means the movement of objects by non-physical means, or the ability to alter objects or affect how something happens by non-physical means. Psychics do this through the power of the mind, using positive energy forces.
